Is Settler free?
Yes. Settler is completely free, with no ads, no in-game purchases and no subscription.
Do I need to download anything?
No. Settler runs in your browser on PC, Mac, tablet and phone. Open the site and press Play.
Do I need an account?
No. You can play as a guest straight away. A free account (username and password, no e-mail address) keeps your name and rating on every device and lets you play ranked games; your guest stats carry over.
How do I play with friends?
Open your own table in the lobby and share the invite link. Empty seats can be filled with bots, so you can also play with just one friend.
How many players can play?
Two to six players per table. The small and medium islands take up to four players, the large and huge islands up to six.
Can I play alone?
Yes. "Play vs bots" starts a private game against bots right away, in three levels: Easy, Normal and Hard.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The game has a touch layout with a confirmation step for building, and it sets the graphics to suit your device. On older phones the clear 2D board is a good choice.
What happens if my connection drops?
The game reconnects on its own. Running games are kept on the server, so you can carry on where you left off.
Which languages are there?
German and English. The game follows your browser language; you can switch in the settings at any time.
What data does Settler store?
Only what the game needs: one necessary cookie, your player name, your results and, with an account, your username and a hashed password. There is no tracking and no advertising. Details are in the privacy policy.
